Program Planning and Development

Program Planning and Development are fundamental processes used to strategically set goals, maximize resources, and ultimately, make organizations more sustainable. 

HOP offers a range of training and consultation services addressing Program Planning and Development, including:

  • Coordinating Health Outreach Programs Training – hands-on learning in outreach program planning and evaluation, supervising program staff, strengthening data collection mechanisms, and time management.
  • Outreach Program Development Consultation – assistance to new outreach programs in developing the outreach coordinator role, recruitment and retention of the outreach team, developing an outreach plan, assessing community needs, and evaluating the outcomes of an outreach program.
  • Outreach Program Assessment Consultation – assessment of an outreach program’s structure, services provided, staff, client demographic characteristics, and community resources to identify areas of strength and need.
  • Outreach Program Goals and Objectives Creation – consultation and training modules to identify specific goals of an outreach program and associated action steps, evaluation measures, and timelines for monitoring progress. 
  • Action Planning, Program Planning, and Strategic Planning – consultation and training modules to assist in developing short-or long-term plans for outreach programs. 
  • Protocol Development Consultation – guidance on writing protocols, samples from other organizations, and feedback on developed protocols.
  • Assistance with Integrating Outreach into the Health Center Setting – consultation and training modules offering guidance on activities, processes, and structures that can be undertaken by outreach, administrative, and clinical programs to provide seamless care to clients.
  • Recruiting and Retaining Outreach Staff Consultation – assistance with development of outreach job descriptions, recruitment venues, interviewing/hiring/orientation, and non-financial incentives for staff retention.
  • Assistance with Grant Applications Consultation – information on grant seeking, review Request for Proposals, advise client on grant writing strategies, and review and comment on draft proposals.
  • Positioning Outreach Programs for Private Funding Consultation – strategies for addressing challenges posed by private funding requirements that often seem contradictory to the nature of outreach and enabling services. Clients learn how to institutionalize, integrate, and redesign outreach structures to reach longer term private funding goals.
  • Customized Program Planning Services – HOP can customize its training and consultation services to meet the specific planning needs of your organization and/or program.
